Context

Meca-Inox is a leader in ball-valve manufacturing and is expanding internationally.

Formerly using Lotus Notes, they needed a cloud solution adapted to their global distribution and their employees mobility.

However, unlike Lotus Notes, Google Apps did not offer extended address book sharing capabilities.

Challenge

Even though Google Apps was meeting most of Meca-Inox requirements, they would Go Google only if they could ensure to their users the following capabilities :

• Sharing several address books (per region, per department) with specific users or groups of users
• Setting different access permissions for address books (edit / read only / delete contacts)
• Access to shared contacts from mobile devices

Solution

While still in 30-day trial version of Google Apps, we installed Shared Contacts for Gmail® and started our Google Apps pilot, giving our users the opportunity to enjoy all the features of Google Apps + contact sharing capabilities.

We hadn’t even finished our trial version when we decided to buy Google Apps for Work thanks to Shared Contacts for Gmail®.
